5th Grade to Cedar Springs

Dear 5th-Grade Parents,

It seems hard to believe but we are not far from our end-of-the year overnight for 5th grade. Here’s some important information about the trip and links to the necessary forms.

June 4-5, 5th-Grade to Cedar Springs Camp in Lake Stevens, WA. The students will be joining Humanities teacher Jane Hesslein, who is leading the trip, math teacher Quinn Thomsen, Spanish teacher Miriam Ayala, former 4th-grade teacher Pat Scott, and myself for this trip. While we are at camp, the group participates in activities that are run by the camp staff such as climbing, nature walks, shelter building, and a group campfire. During the day, the students will travel in small groups with an SCDS teacher and a Cedar Springs Staff member. We eat our meals in a large dining room, and sleep in cabin groups with an SCDS teacher. The camp kitchen can accommodate any food allergies, but we recommend sending a treat with your child separately. A suggested packing list is included with this mailing. Additional information about the camp can be found at http://www.cedarspringscamp.net/

Time of Departure: We leave Lower Woodland Park parking lot at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4. This is the same lot where the Winterim buses meet and it is located at N 50th and E Green Lake Way. At the bus, we will collect any medicines that your child needs for the overnight and they should be labeled with your child’s name and dosage instructions.
Time of Return: We will return to the same parking lot on Thursday, June 5 at 3:00 p.m. We will call the front office earlier in the day to let them know if we are running late, but we do not expect any traffic problems.

REQUIRED Forms – DUE Wednesday, May 28

1. Participation Agreement and Release Form should be signed and dated.
2. SCDS Emergency Information and Medical Form – Please update if necessary, note food allergies if applicable and/or any medicines to be taken on the trip, sign and return
3. Cedar Springs Camp Registration, Waiver, and Release Forms. Please fill this form out completely on both sides.
4. Packing List. Students are allowed to bring hand-held games for the bus. Please, no cell phones. The Cedar Springs camp phone number is 425-334-6215.

Camp is always a blast and I know we’ll have a great time. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact Jane Hesslein or me. Thanks!
