The Valiant Taylor

by the Brothers Grimm

This is the story of a Taylor who buys a teaspoon of jelly to put on his morning toast. A bunch of flies come to eat the jelly and with one blow of a towel he kills them all. Feeling very proud of himself he makes a belt that says "Seven in One Blow" and decides to go out and seek his fortune. Along the way he meets a giant who he tricks into thinking that he is stronger and more fierce then. Then he goes to the king who tells him that he can marry his daughter if he get's rid of the ogres in the land. Again the Taylor tricks the ogres into killing the eachother.The king is afraid of the Taylor so he sends him on a series of tests and he passes everyone so finally he gives his daughter to him in marriage. One night in his sleep he is muttering about making clothes in his sleep. Outraged the princess realizes he is nothing more then a common Taylor. She tells her father and the decide to kill him. But a Paige in the palace warns the Taylor and he manages to scare the assassins, the king, and the princess out of the kingdom. The kingdom decides to make the Taylor king and he lives happily ever after.
