Grades 6, 7, and 8
The overall goal of the physical education program at SCDS is to enhance
skills, coordination and physical fitness for a lifetime
of health and wellness. Maximum participation and individual success
are the key objectives, regardless of a student’s
ability. Students have access to technology through the use of heart
rate monitors that provide immediate feedback on
health and fitness objectives. The spatial abilities of the students
at SCDS require creativity and independently guided
activities. In addition to regular on-campus PE classes, our older middle
school students have unique opportunities to
enhance individual success, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and
social interaction in the community through an
impressive array of recreational pursuits at many off-campus venues,
with professional expert instruction in martial arts,
dance, in-line skating, rowing, aerobics, yoga, golf, swimming, weight
training, and sailing.
