January 2011: 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team Remains Unbeaten!

The 8th grade Wildcats are playing some fierce basketball again this year. After opening the season in a tight overtime win against SAAS (25-24) the girls have gone on to convincing wins against Bush, Seattle Girls School, Northwest and University Prep. The Wildcats continue to employ a trapping full-court press and a 2-3 zone defense that stifles their opponents’ offense. That, coupled with some excellent team shooting and great coaching by Shiloh Greenhaw, gives them a record of 5 wins/no losses.

Last year, these eight players (Monica Firmani, Milou Haskin, Sydney Koh, Caroline Motzer, Rose Soiffer-Kosins, Anna Thompson, Alyssa Van Arsdale, Anna White) played together with only one loss in their eight games. As 6th graders they were unbeaten! Over the last nearly 3 seasons their record is 21 and 1.

The final game of their SCDS careers will be Wednesday, February 9, 3:45 in the SCDS gym against the Seattle Hebrew Academy. This is always a great contest – please come and cheer on the 8th grade girls!
