November 2010: SCDS Wins Third Consecutive 1st Place in Math Tournament

The SCDS Math Team took its third consecutive 1st place at the 36th Annual Bishop Blanchet Math Tournament on November 6, 2010. The team also swept the Independent School Division.

Some individual statistics include:
1st place 8th grade: Mark Mocket and Olivia Machetanz
2nd place 8th grade: Irene Sakson
3rd place 8th grade: Kai Bojstrom

This tournament includes an interesting teaching component where kids not only compete individually and with their team, but are also assigned to a random team. Because SCDS math is often more advanced than at other schools, our kids help to bring their assigned teams along. And they do so in a really helpful way. According to Math Club Coach Granya O'Neill, our school has earned a reputation of being "smart and nice."

Congratulations Mathletes!
