Development

Annual Fund 2007-08 is underway!
Every family is invited to participate in the Annual Fund with a gift to support the people and programs that distinguish an SCDS education. We have historically experienced participation by over 90% of current parents, and hope that each familiy will consider making SCDS their philanthopic priority.

What is the Development Office?

The Development Office is staffed by Joan Hudson, Director of Development, and Allison (Doyle) Bass '91, Assistant Director of Development. The Development Office handles many administrative activities including:

What is the Annual Fund?

Tuition at Seattle Country Day School, and at most independent schools, does not cover the full cost of educating students. To keep tuition affordable and competitive, we raise additional money to support our programs through voluntary contributions to the Annual Fund. These contributions, unlike tuition, are tax deductible.

Why should I give to the Annual Fund?

Everyone has their own reasons for giving. We hope you will contribute to the Annual Fund because you appreciate the education that SCDS provides our students and you believe in our mission. Your gift shows that you support what we are about.

How can I give?

There are many ways to give to the Annual Fund:

  • Cash - deliver to Development Office in Nob Hill House.
  • Check - make payable to "Seattle Country Day School Annual Fund" and mail to 2619 4th Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109
  • Credit card - call Allison Bass at 206-691-2620 to give your card number (Visa or Mastercard only)
  • Online - visit Network for Good
  • Securities Transfer - let us know the type of shares and date you are requesting a transfer.
    Let your broker know:
    DTC Clearing Number: 0226
    FBO: Seattle Country Day School
    Account #: T18-664065
  • Pledge! Payment isn't due until May 31, 2008, but your early commitment of support means we can focus efforts on program rather than follow-up. Email Allison Bass with your pledge; we can set-up a reminder or payment schedule that works for you!

How do I know what size gift to make?

Every family must determine individually what is the right amount to contribute. We receive gifts that range in size from $10 to over $10,000, and offer the following gift levels:

  • Visionary: $10,000+
  • Benefactor: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Patron: $2,500 - $4,999
  • Scholar: $1,000 - $2,499
  • Wildcat: up to $999

We ask families who are able to consider a leadership-level gift ($2,500 or more). We are successful because of the strong participation we have throughout our community, but we gratefully acknowledge at a recognition dinner in April the impact that leadership donors can make.

Are there other ways to support SCDS?

Yes. SCDS relies on Annual Giving because it funds the operating budget which provides directly for the day-to-day experiences of our students and needs of the school.

We also encourage families to be involved in the life of the school by volunteering through the many opportunities made possible by Parent Council, including the annual Auction.

There are other easy ways to support the school financially, in addition to making a cash gift. The following is a partial list of corporations that fund educational institutions. Information below does not constitute an endorsement of any of the companies or programs described.
