SCDS Wildcat Ultimate athletes will go roaring into action this weekend, October 14-15, as they compete in the St. John's-Ravenscourt School's (SJR) annual "Hold Back the Snow" (HBTS) Ultimate tournament. Located in Winnipeg, HBTS is the largest and longest running junior tournament in Canada and SCDS athletes travel the furthest to compete!
"We have had a relationship with students from SJR for a number of years...[and] SJR [visits Seattle to] participate in Spring Reign. During these two tournaments families from each school 'billet' (host) students from the other school for two nights," Grades 6 and 8 Math Teacher and SCDS Ultimate Coach Mr. Feeley explained. "Flying to participate in a sporting event is a unique and fun experience."
This trip is a fun and fulfilling tradition for SCDS Ultimate athletes. Though there was a brief hiatus in the mid-2000s, SCDS has proudly participated and partnered with SJR for many years. Wildcat teams claimed HBTS victory in 1998, 1999, and more recently in 2015. Go Wildcats!
