Parent Tours and Open House events are wonderful opportunities to learn
about the SCDS program and community. All parents or legal guardians
are required to attend a Parent Tour or Open House event as part
of the admission process.
Parent Tours:
Parent Tours offer prospective parents a view into the daily life of
a student at SCDS. The opportunity to experience the dynamic programs
and community is critical as you build upon your knowledge of the school.

Parent Tours are
held weekly, October through mid- January (follow link for Tour
Schedule.)
• Parent Tours are 8:45 - 11:30 a.m.
• Space is limited and reservations are required.
Please contact 206-284-6220 to schedule
a tour.
• Priority for tours is given to families
currently going through the application process. (Applying for
the 2008-09 school
year) All others
are encouraged to attend an Open House event.
• The
tour begins with a group session hosted by the Director
of Admissions and the K-3 Division Head. We then proceed on
a staff-led tour of the facility
and classrooms. The groups then
gather to hear from the Head of School and other administrators.
The tour concludes with a session led by one of our master
teachers highlighting the inquiry-based teaching strategies
and its benefits for our
students.
Open House
Open House is an all-school event hosted for prospective parents. Our
faculty and numerous current parents are in attendance to share information
about our program and answer any questions you may have.
• The Open House will be Saturday, December 1, 2007 from
1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and does not require a reservation.
• This exciting event is held for families interested
in applying to kindergarten through eighth grade. All faculty,
K-8, are in attendance
to answer your questions.
• The event begins at 1:00 in the gym with a
few opening remarks and then families are encouraged to tour the
school,
meet
with faculty and chat
with current parents. We will also host sessions throughout the Open
House, led by our master teachers, highlighting the inquiry-based
teaching model and its benefits to our students.
• As this event is one of our larger gatherings
and geared toward an adult audience, young children are not encouraged
to attend. Students
applying to grades 3-8, however, are welcome.
