Admissions Process

Seattle Country Day School uses an online application system called Ravenna for submission of all application materials. Tour and Virtual Open House registration also takes place on Ravenna. Create an account to get started and search for SCDS to register for an event or to start an application.

We ask all applicants to take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale test. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale is a test of cognitive ability, and is not achievement-based. Students for whom SCDS is a good fit score at or above the 97th percentile in either the Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) or General Abilities Index (GAI). We do, however, consider scores that fall close to the 97th percentile for students who demonstrate other gifted characteristics, including but not limited to:

Intellectual energy and curiosity
Independent thought and depth of ideas
Creativity in the child's approach to problem-solving
Interest in multidimensional structure of objects, ideas, and relationships
Divergent thinking and a fascination with novelty
Intellectual need for the differentiated SCDS program
Social skills and emotional maturity
Citizenship and character

Kindergarten

Schedule Wechsler Intelligence Scale test. Results should be sent directly to our office from the examiner. See Testing Information for details. If the IQ assessment fee is a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to us at admissions@seattlecountryday.org or call 206.812.8907.
A Parent Visit is required. Either take a tour or attend our Open House in Fall 2024.
Submit the online application via Ravenna on or before January 16, 2025.
A virtual Family Meeting is required. Upon completion of the online application and submission of qualifying IQ test results, our office will reach out to you to schedule a brief 20 minute Zoom meeting to learn more about your child. We look forward to getting to know your family during the application process!
Request teacher evaluation from a current teacher. Teachers writing recommendations should not be sports coaches or extracurricular teachers. The teacher can upload the teacher evaluation via Ravenna.
Submit the $70 non-refundable application fee, payable by credit card through Ravenna, on or before January 16, 2025. If the application fee is a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to us at admissions@seattlecountryday.org or call 206.812.8907.
A Student Visit Day will be assigned by the Office of Admissions after the application is complete (when the application, fee, teacher evaluation, and qualifying IQ assessment results are all submitted and received).

Grades 1-4

Request one administrator form through Ravenna, to be completed by a principal, division head, school counselor, or site manager/owner who knows your child. The person completing the administrator form should be different than the individual filling out the teacher evaluation(s).
Request a current transcript. School transcripts can be uploaded to Ravenna by your current school's registrar, sent in the mail (SCDS Admissions, 2619 4th Avenue N, Seattle WA, 98109) or emailed to admissions@seattlecountryday.org.

Submit optional standardized test results. Families applying to 5^th through 8^th grade may choose to submit optional achievement testing. Achievement testing will be added to the application file should a family choose to submit it. If your student is taking the Independent School Entrance Exam or the Secondary School Admission Test, scores can be submitted directly to Seattle Country Day School. The SSAT code for our school is 7242. Our ISEE code is 481686.
Upload PSIS Middle/Upper School Student Essays and PSIS Student Interests & Activities Form to Ravenna.
