CONNECTIONS: Alumni Class Agent Kickoff
The inaugural Alumni Class Agent Kickoff was a wonderful way to close out the summer and look ahead to the 2017-18 school year. We had agents and Alumni Council members representing class years 1985 to 2015 in attendance. Lisa (Narodick) Colton '89 generously opened her home for this event and we can't thank her enough!
Class Agents connected with one another, reminisced by looking through old yearbooks, participated in an engaging creative inquiry-based activity, and offered ideas and suggestions to keep the SCDS Alumni Association growing and moving forward.

SCDS Faculty & Staff Updates
SCDS said farewell to Counselor Amy Colfelt, Assistant Director of Advancement Erin Perry, and Teaching Assistant Sean Hutton at the end of the 2016-17 school year. Each of these fine individuals contributed a great deal to our school community and they will be missed!
For the 2017-18 school year, we are welcoming Grade 2 Teacher Ms. Carrie Pencek, School Counselor Mr. Aaron Burrick, Assistant Director of Advancement Ms. Claire Fallat, and Teaching Assistants Davis Jones and Courtney Hamilton. Read more about our new faculty and staff members in the forthcoming issue of Kinetics, set to be released in mid-October 2017.
Whether it was from the comfort of your own home, on an airplane bound for a relaxing vacation, or taking public transportation to work/an internship, we hope you were able to soak up some good words and learn something new this summer.
SCDS faculty and staff dove into the book What Kind of Citizen?: Educating Our Children for the Common Good for summer reading. This book is full of information from how to teach necessary skills required for a strong democracy to teaching students to engage critically with the world around them.
Everyone can use a good book recommendations. Email us your picks for the SCDS alumni community along with a short review on the title. Connect with fellow alums and watch your book list grow!

With fall fast approaching, it's time to reconnect, network, and engage with one another. Maybe you want to start an alumni book club or you're interested in recruiting an alum as an expert to speak at your company—whatever you are looking for we want to support you!

We want to highlight alums through an Alumni Blog on the SCDS website featuring your stories and guest posts on subjects that matter to you. Be on the lookout for updates on this exciting project set to launch pre-Thanksgiving 2017.
