Winter 2017: Winter is coming...along with many ways for you to reconnect and engage!

SPOTLIGHT: Asta Wylie '13

SCDS alumna Asta Wylie is a renegade girl-power anthem artist, bringing a unique sound to the country music scene of Nashville.

Asta moved to Nashville in August after graduating high school to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter and recording artist. Her new EP Keep Me In Mind was her final project in Seattle before setting off for Nashville. She is excited to share it with the world on November 17, 2017 (available for pre-order on iTunes now!). The first single, "Hit & Run," is currently on rotation at several radio stations and on all major streaming services.

"My sound has been described as 'badass Americana'. It's a mix of country, indie, and rock for sure," Asta said. "Think Miranda Lambert meets Dixie Chicks, with a touch of Janis Joplin. As a musician, I aim to give women a powerful voice and show the power of vulnerability,"

Annual SCDS Engineering Event

SCDS annual Engineering Event is right around the corner and this year's theme is 'Puffer: Origami Rovers'.

In town and free the morning of Tuesday, November 21? Stop by and check out the origami-inspired rigs for yourself, say hello to Doc O, and remember your Engineering Event glory days!

The SCDS Auction is one of the school's largest events. Produced by the Parent Council with support from the Advancement Office, the auction is not only a fundraiser—supporting approximately 6% of the school's operating budget—but a 'friendraiser' that gathers our community together for the benefit of SCDS students.

This is a 21+ event and we would love to have you join us! Save the date for Saturday, March 3, 2018 and keep an eye out for ticketing deatils, registration, and a catalog of items in the next few months! Questions? Email this year's Auction Chairs Bina Shukla and Susan Hood here.

Check Out the New Service Learning Blog!

SCDS now has a Service Learning blog! This is a space where we'll  share photos, reflections, and all things community service in the journey of an SCDS student. Click here to visit the new blog and subscribe to stay up-to-date.

Reconnect. Network. Engage.

With fall fast approaching, it's time to reconnect, network, and engage with one another. Maybe you want to start an alumni book club or you're interested in recruiting an alum as an expert to speak at your company—whatever you are looking for we want to support you!

Sign up on our Alumni Student Directory to reconnect with classmates! Already signed up on the Directory? Take a moment to log in and make sure your information is up-to-date.

We recently revamped our LinkedIn Group and hope you will join and stay tuned for internship/mentorship/job postings as well as other great content.

We love perusing all of the exciting things alums are up to in our Class Notes section of Kinetics, but that is only published two times per year. We want to highlight alums through an Alumni Blog on the SCDS website featuring stories about alums and their winding paths after SCDS be it in college or in careers post-college. Be on the lookout for updates on this exciting project set to launch post-New Year's 2018.
