School Counselor

Position available: School Counselor (Lower School)

Qualifications
Experience with children ages 5-9 as a counselor in an educational setting. Experience with the social and emotional needs of gifted students is preferred;

Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required – Master’s Degree is preferred;

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational ability in an environment where priorities often change;

Ability to develop and coordinate student intervention plans with parents, faculty, administration, and outside professionals.

 

Responsibilities
Reports to the Head of School. Specific responsibilities include the following:

Serve as a consultant to teachers, students, parents, outside professionals, and school administration to help address the social and emotional needs of students;

Work directly with students and parents on counseling issues;

Develop and coordinate student intervention plans with parents, faculty, administration, and outside professionals as needed;

 Crisis intervention with students;

Teach Social and Emotional Learning lessons K-3;

Provide professional counseling referrals to families;

Other duties as requested by the Head of School.

Salary and Benefits
This position is full-time. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Life/LTD, Retirement (TIAA-Employer Matched), Section 125 Plan.
