Strong SCDS Showing at All-Girls Chess Tournament

Congratulations to all of the Seattle Country Day School girls' chess players who participated in Queen's Quest, one of the nation's largest all-girl scholastic chess tournaments on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Over 150 girls in grades K-6 participated in the five-round match games and our girls stepped up to the challenge, coming away with awards in multiple sections. Go Wildcats!

Grade 4-6:
The SCDS girls in this section placed 1st out of 21 teams!
Individually students placed: Sydney B. in 5th, Clara T. in 6th, and Kate L. in 7th out of 43 participants.

Grades 1-3:
The SCDS girls in this section placed 4th out of 21 teams!
Individually students placed: Briana L. in 3rd, Elizabeth W. in 14th, Stella L. in 32nd, Nora R. in 40th, Ryan F.S. in 44th, Ilia O. in 50th, Mia W. in 67th, and Frances J. in 73rd out of 80 participants.

Grade K:
These up-and-coming chess aficionados played their hearts out and we can't wait to see what they do in future competitions!
Individually students placed: Audrey S. in 1st, Caitlyn L. in 3rd., Anushka Eva V. in 5th, Kimaya M. in 9th, Lena D. in 14th, Kate M. in 16th, Camille H. in 21st, Kayla Y. in 22nd, Nicole T., in 23rd, and Hazel W. in 25th out of 29 kindergarten participants.
