Athletics

There are many athletic outlets for students with varying interests and comfort levels. Our teams include soccer, ultimate, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, track and field, and tennis. Individual improvement is important, but we emphasize team over self. Collaboration and cooperation learned in the classroom also translates on the field, promoting individual and group progress. "We want to expose kids to sports as part of a lifelong learning process," says Athletic Director Chuck Lintz. "At the same time, we want our program to be fun and competitive."

Ultimate frisbee is especially popular at SCDS, and many students attend a local and well-attended tournament called Spring Reign. And for families who love to be in the bleachers as much as the field, the alumni-owned Seattle Cascades invites SCDS community members to Memorial Stadium every summer to watch a professional ultimate game.
